The River Knows – Dad’s Day 2011

Pontoon bridge
Pontoon bridge on the James River. VA circa 1864

On this Father’s Day we ride the ride in aural fashion with a salute the River.  Through out Americana rivers have played a strong performance not only in songs but instrumentals as well.  Sometimes it takes a Canadian to show us the richness of our history--introduce Robbie Robertson from The Band and Emmylou Harris as the show begins.

As an icon and metaphor the river has touched a number of creative types – Joe Bonamassa, Jim Morrison, Steve Morse, Neil Young, The Committments, Monte Montgomery, Brad Paisley, Telemann (you read that correctly) and more.  A salute to the music inspiring these and others on the program this week.

And our annual tradition of a special giveaway for Dads and Grand Dads.
