The Winter Solstice Arrives!

Christmas and the Winter Solstice; two terrific reasons to celebrate with special music programs Thursday, December 22nd on WCVE Public Radio.
Welcome Christmas!, 2:00 p.m. - The best way to welcome Christmas is Welcome Christmas!, the VocalEssence holiday concert from American Public Media. This year’s concert celebrates the holiday with the warmth of traditional carols, the exhilaration of new songs for the season, a garland of carols from Sweden and the winners of the Carol Contest.
Paul Winter Solstice Concert, 10:0 p.m. - For two decades Paul Winter’s Solstice has been one of New York’s and NPR’s most popular holiday programs. The annual concert will once again take place in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and will mark the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, with the music of Armenia vocalist Arto TunAboyaciya, gospel singer Theresa Thomason and the dummers of Forces of Nature Dance Theater to name a few. As always, the star of the show is the Cathedral itself which brings acoustic glory and esthetic majesty to the celebation.
