Bon Scours Virginia Health System is preparing for increases in patients 65 and older, opening Senior Emergency Services at its St. Mary's and St. Francis Hospitals.

Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Richmond are hosting a two-day, free conference, open to the public, on the subject of educational equity. The event, "Looking Back, Moving Forward," will consider diversity in race, class, and school boundaries in the Richmond area.

More than 8,000 students from 53 Virginia high schools competed this year in the Poetry Out Loud recitation competition. The state finals are Thursday at the November Theatre.
