Delegates Refuse to Elect Openly Gay Judge Candidate

In an after-midnight vote May 15, the House of Delegates blocked the election of a Richmond prosector who would have been the state's first openly gay judge.  He received 33 ayes, 31 nays and 10 abstentions.  A majority of 51 votes was required.
