Cocoons and Egg Cases in Winter

Polyphemus-Moth-Cocoon

Entomologist Dr. Art Evans and WCVE producer Steve Clark discuss the possibilities surrounding the discovery of a polyphemus moth cocoon and what to do with preying mantis egg cases in the dead of winter.

The polyphemus is awesome. We live in CLE and there is a couple who breed moths that are native. For our daughter's birthday we were able to have a fantastic experience and take home not only polyphemus cocoons, but also luna moth cocoons. It was really cool feeling them move in the cocoons. Cheers!
