With American fighter troops now out of Iraq, much of the U.S.government's focus is now on Afghanistan. Prior to the troop pullout, WCVE's Dan Rosenthal spoke with a school counselor from Omaha, Nebraska working at the International School of Kabul. She was in Richmond for an international symposium sponsored by Collegiate School.

Alysha Domratowski has worked in Kabul since 2006 at the pre-K through 12th grade school which credits those graduating with the equivalent of a U.S. diploma. Domratowski was asked about her students, the dangers of working in a war zone and how a Nebraska native ended up teaching in Afghanistan.

I truly enjoyed the interview.Even though Alysha is my daughter I value her compassion to work with the different situations and try to help those people who she is involved with. She has always had the passion and desire to work in areas that needs the extra care in helping people. I admire her courage to work in areas that sometimes can be stressful due to economic situations. Her love of helping other people out weighs the benefits knowing that it can make a difference in someone's life. She is truly a wonderful person and has alot to give to whatever situation she becomes involved in.
