Virginia’s Fouth District Republican Congressman Randy Forbes has introduced a bill to reaffirm “In God We Trust” as the national motto and encourage its display in public schools and in government buildings. But as Charles Fishburne reports, there are some strong disagreements along party lines.
American was founded by those escaping from religious persecution, so it is best to honor their desire for separation of church away from the state. This motto is not only outdated, it was a bad idea from the "get go".
