Richmond's Historic St. John's Church celebrates 400th year
St. John's Church, where Patrick Henry said "give me liberty", is celebrating its 400th year. Sunday The Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church will be part of a special late afternoon celebration.
The service begins at 4pm.
Inscoe: The Most Reverend Kathryn Jefferts Shorey is joining us for that service. She will be the celebrant; she will be leading worship and she'll also be preaching.
The Reverend Laura Inscoe is Rector of historic St. John's. A reception is going to follow the church service.
Inscoe: We'll be taking shuttle buses over to Peter Paul Development Center on North 22nd Street. It's a wonderful urban ministry of the Episcopal Church.
There are 400th anniversary special events planned every month, in addition to the regularly scheduled reenactments of Patrick Henry's famous speech.
Inscoe: Details about our year-long celebration can be found on the internet at sjc400.org.
