Prince George County names Administrator
Prince George County has named a successor to retiring County Administrator John Kines, Jr.
Percy Ashcroft, Caroline County’s Administrator since 1999, will take over on March 12th. He is 53 and has a degree in communications and political science from Salem College in West Virginia. He and his wife have three children.
According to the Progress Index, Ashcroft was selected from among 11 candidates. He served as City Manager of his hometown of Clarkesburg, West Virginia, after 12 years in the West Virginia House of Delegates.
Kines has been Prince George County Administrator, this time, since 2000. He thought he retired in 1999, but was called back after William Johnson, selected to replace him, took a job in Richmond.
Brenda Garton was hired away from Orange County. She left after five years and Kines once again came out of retirement.
