Trucker dies in 295 crash

A truck accident on Route 295 Saturday claimed the life of a Miami man. It happened just north of Route 460.

Just before 4 in the morning, 49 year-old Lionardo Reina was driving a 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer when, according to state police, he ran off the left side of the southbound lanes of the interstate and crossed into the northbound lanes.

Reina got out of his truck as another tractor-trailer, heading north, hit it.  Both went off the right side of the road.  The driver of that truck, 46 year-old Laurent Beauliu, from Quebec, suffered life-threatening serious injuries.

The Freightliner was carrying rolls of paper and several of them hit a Volvo.  36 year-old Eric Currie, from North Carolina, and his 14 year-old passenger were not hurt.  Fog at the time is considered a factor in what happened.  Troopers are still trying to find out why the Freightliner ran off the road to begin with.
