Stafford donates $100,000 to Virginia State University
A major donation to Virginia State University will help students afford college.
Earl W. Stafford, Chairman and CEO of The Stafford Foundation, gave $100,000.
Most of the money will be used as part of VSU’s Low Income Families with Talented Students program. LIFTS, as it's known, is the first of its kind among state-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
The program’s goal is to cover all of the financial needs of qualifying students through scholarships and grants and limits student debt to 25% of VSU’s in-state cost of attendance over four years, regardless of where the student lives.
Stafford spoke at last year’s VSU graduation.
