Police make an arrest in New Year’s Day double homicide
Richmond police have arrested and charged a man in connection with a pair of New Year’s Day homicides in the city, but as Charles Fishburne reports, they are not done yet.
Police arrested 29-year old Ivan “Slap” Smith and charged him with two counts of conspiracy to commit murder New Year's Day.
Lepley: Just after 4:30 in the morning, after there were reports of shots fired, and when they arrived, they found Alex Arrington, Jr., 25, shot to death outside and Corliss Logan, 25, shot to death inside a vehicle about a block away in the Hillside Court area.
Richmond Police spokesman Gene Lepley.
Lepley: It's really the cooperation from the residents. They've said they've had enough, they won't tolerate this kind of behavior and they've stepped up and helped us to identify Ivan Smith.
But Smith has not been charged as the triggerman and though police won’t say what else they know, they do acknowledge the case is not closed.
Lepley: We're still working the case, yeah.
