North Anna nuke unit power reduced
Dominion Virginia Power has reduced power at one of its nuclear power reactors at North Anna.
The reactor remains on line.
Zuercher: Last Friday afternoon, we reduced power at Northanna Unit 2 to 84% to repair some tube leaks in the condenser.
Dominion’s Richard Zuercher.
Zuercher: The condensor accepts water from Lake Anna to cool the steam used to produce electricity.
He explained that Dominion focuses on condenser repairs during refueling.
Zuercher: There are times when leaks do develop during operation. The water leakage got to the point where we felt we needed to go in and make repairs so we could continue to operate at full power.
Unit 1, Zuercher added, continues to operate at full power and Unit 2 will be back at 100% again soon.
