James River Parks license plate proposed
There is a group working the get a specialty license plate issued celebrating Richmond’s James River Parks.
The Friends of the James River Park will have to collect at least 350 applications to make that happen.
Dellinger-Wray: We currently have 270 applications that are in.
The group's Molly Dellinger-Wray says the James River helps define Richmond.
Dellinger-Wray: It is in our city, our urban green space, it has Class IV rapids; Richmonders from every conceivable background can enjoy wilderness in the heart of the city.
The license plate celebrates that unique relationship.
Dellinger-Wray: It's the only license place that boasts Richmond; it shows a beautiful picture of the railroad bridge with the river underneath it and wildlife and shows our pride in James River Park.
The goal, Dellinger-Wray added, is to meet that 350 application threshold by the middle of this month so a bill authorizing the plate can be introduced in the upcoming session of the General Assembly.
Dellinger-Wray: The application is available on the James River Park website, and that's www.jamesriverpark.org.
