Disaster Response Officials Meet at UVa
Top disaster response officials will be at the University of Virginia tomorrow to talk about community response and resiliency after disasters.
The panel discussion is hosted by the Critical Incident Analysis Group, based at the UVA School of Medicine. Dr. Gregory Saathoff is CIAG's Executive Director.
Saathoff: It is going to be an event that's open to the public, located at Minor Hall on the grounds of the University of Virginia, and the title is "Community Response to Terrorist Attacks," and basically, it's going to consist of a panel that will be exploring community response and resiliency in the aftermath of a significant attack.
The discussion is taking place on the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, he said, because that stands as a testament to people’s resiliency in the face of horrific challenges.
At the request of the Attorney General, Dr. Saathoff developed CIAG in 1997.
Saathoff: There was an interest to have a better way for federal government, particularly the FBI, to reach out to outside resources during a time of crisis.
