Broadway in Richmond Opens its Season Friday
The national tour of "A Chorus Line" opens the Broadway in Richmond season tomorrow night at the Landmark Theater.
A Chorus Line opened on Broadway in 1975. It ran for more than six thousand performances and returned to Broadway in 2006. That was the first time Ashley Klinger, who’s playing Kristine, saw it and fell in love with it.
Klinger: And never thought I would be on stage performing it only a few years later. You know, it really is the story of my life, so that's why it's so special, to be able to show other people and have them really understand that even more.
A Chorus Line, she said, is as true to the audition experience today as it was when it opened. There are performances Friday night and two on Saturday. The season continues in January.
Creasy: We have "The Color Purple" coming to the Landmark Theater as well in the end of January.
Broadway in Richmond’s Cindy Creasy.
Creasy: "Lord of the Dance" in February. We have "The Wizard of Oz" which will be coming in March and then, of course, Disney's "Beauty and the Beast."
