Two Men Die in Weekend Shootings in Petersburg
Petersburg Police continue their investigations into two unrelated homicides that happened over the weekend.
Very early Sunday morning, police were called to Le Venue of Bombay, a club on East Washington Street.
Hyatt: For a person shot in a rear parking lot.
According to the Police Department’s Esther Hyatt, the victim turned out to be Bernie Sprately, of Petersburg. The 25-year old man had been shot in the abdomen. He died later in the hospital.
Hyatt: The investigation has led to the identification and arrest of the shooter, 21-year old Keon Hall of Petersburg.
Investigators say there was a fight inside the club and numerous code violations were discovered.
Hyatt: La Venue is closed; they cannot operate.
There’ll be a hearing for the owners tomorrow. On Saturday night, 44-year old Michael Granderson, from Chesterfield, attending a birthday party at the Masonic Lodge on Halifax Street, was shot in his car in the parking lot. That investigation has yet to turn up a motive or a suspect.
