Groundbreaking Today For the City’s First Elementary School in over a Decade
As we reported last week, the City of Richmond is breaking ground for two new elementary schools this month -- the first is today, and the Mayor is especially eager for the community to come out and show its support.
They are the first new elementary schools in the city of Richmond in over a decade.
Jones: We really want you to come out today to the Broad Rock Elementary School at 4615 Ferguson Lane.
Mayor Dwight Jones.
Jones: The children need to know that we're investing in their future, that the city has many problems, but it also has many opportunities, and we want to make sure that our young people have the best learning environment that they possibly can have.
Broad Rock is 100 years old.
Next week, groundbreaking is set for improvements and expansion to Oak Grove Elementary; that school was built in 1937.
