Hopewell Man Arrested After Attack
A 19-year-old from Hopewell is in jail facing several charges including attempted murder after intentionally misusing information from the Virginia State Police Sex Offender Registry to harrass a registered offender.
According to State Police Sargeant Tom Molnar, on October 16th, a registered sex offender went to a convenience store in Hopewell.
Molnar: He was recognized by Daniel Narron, who was accompanied by three other male adults, approached the registered sex offender and began harrassing him and intimidating him.
The man left on his moped. Narron and the others followed in a Lincoln Navigator.
Molnar: The vehicles approached the intersection of Atlantic Street and Hill Avenue in the city of Hopewell; Narron allegedly struck the back of the victim's moped and fled from the scene.
Narron, who is 19, was arrested Friday and arraigned yesterday in Hopewell District Court on charges of attempted murder and attempted aggravated malicious wounding by a mob, hit-and-run and misuse of the sex offender registry. At this point, the others involved have not been charged.
Molnar: And we are continuing our investigation into their role and to the events and consulting with the Commonwealth Attorney’s office.
