State Police On The Lookout for Hit-and-Run Driver
Virginia State Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver, who struck a woman whose car had broken down on I-95…and the wrecker driver who came to help her. Charles Fishburne reports.
It happened about 4:20 Sunday morning on Interstate 95 at the 114 mile marker between Ladysmith and Thornburg exits.
A 20-year-old woman whose car was broken down, and the wrecker driver who came to help her, were standing on the northbound shoulder, next to the tow truck with flashing amber lights, when someone driving a dark blue, newer-model Volkswagen sedan ran off the road, struck them both and kept going.
They were transported to Mary Washington Hospital, she with serious, but not life-threatening injuries; his injuries were also not life-threatening.
Police are looking for the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle, and say it should have significant damage to its passenger side and missing the passenger side rear-view mirror. Anybody with information is asked to call Virginia State Police at 804-633-6799.
