Ft. Lee Hosts Education Conference
Ft. Lee was the host for an education conference yesterday involving area educators and the Department of Defense.
With Fort Lee growing by leaps and bounds, Garrison Commander, Colonel Mike Morrow, invited representatives of the six school districts that educate the children of Fort Lee and community leaders to a conference.
Elzey: To provide information about challenges that they face as school systems and communities in dealing with the military-impacted area.
Nancy Elzey is the post’s School Liaison Officer.
Elzey: A lot of grants can be applied for and received based on the number of military children or military-affiliated children within a particular school system.
There were also discussions about funding opportunities through the U.S. Dept. of Education’s “Impact Aid” program and a state education funding agreement.
