ARWA Eases Water Restrictions
The Appomattox River Water Authority voted yesterday to ease water restrictions for part of Chesterfield County, all of Petersburg and Colonial Heights, and parts of Dinwiddie and Pr. George Counties.
The water level of Lake Chesdin continues to go up and areas the ARWA serves will go from emergency back to mandatory water restrictions.
There are slight differences in each of the localities, but in general, it means gardens, plants and established landscapes can be now watered between 8pm and 8am daily. For 30 days after it's planted, new landscape can also be watered from 8 at night until 8 in the morning.
Cars can be washed at home once a week. Commercial car washes can go back to their normal operation. Restaurants are still asked to serve water only to customers who ask for it.
The ARWA was influenced by the Department of Environmental Quality’s decision to continue to allow the release of less water from Lake Chesdin into the Appomattox River than its permit allows.
