Folk Festival Draws Record Crowd
With perfect weather, The Richmond Folk Festival drew its largest crowd ever and the most on site donations.
Organizers say more than 190 thousand people attended the music event that began at six o’clock Friday night and ended last night just after seven.
On-site donations hit more than 72 thousand dollars; that's more than any of the last three years or the three years of the previous National Folk Festival.
More than 30 music and dance groups were featured on seven stages located near the James River. There was a Virginia Folklife demonstration area with special activities for kids, a folk arts marketplace, all kinds of regional and ethnic foods.
The three-day festival is free and draws visitors from all over the country. WCVE broadcast the music live, in HD, from the main stage.
