Arrest Made in Colonial Heights Fatal Accident
The driver of a car in which a teenager died early Saturday has been arrested.
31 year-old Juan Hernandez-Paneda is charged with involuntary manslaughter, DUI, refusal to submit to a blood alcohol test, and driving on a suspended license. He’s being held in the Riverside Regional Jail with no bond. His trial is set for mid-November.
Just before 2:30 Saturday morning, Paneda lost control of the Chevy Tahoe he was driving on I-95 southbound near Temple Avenue. The SUV hit a tractor-trailer that was parked on the side of the interstate.
18 year-old Fortino Mendoza-Pacheco, the front seat passenger, died at the scene. Paneda and another passenger were both hurt.
