UR/ BBB Symposium for Charities
The Better Business Bureau is sponsoring a symposium for charitable groups at the University of Richmond.
Hundreds of charity workers from across Virginia are expected to take part in a discussion of “Current Happenings in the Giving Marketplace”. It’ll be led by Art Taylor, President and CEO of the BBB’s national Wise Giving Alliance.
Gallagher: But then after that, we'll break into small discussion groups with the charities or anyone else who wants to attend, to talk about what the BBB standards or, or even just reasonable standards for contributions.
Tom Gallagher, Central Virginia Better Business Bureau CEO, says their focus has always been ethics in the marketplace.
Gallagher: Donors want to be sure that they're giving the money to the charities that really make good use of the money, that don't have fund-raising costs that are too high or that have administrative costs that are too high, that their board meets regularly, that they review themselves and the charity is actually able to work toward putting a dent in whatever their purpose is.
The Better Business Bureau awards accreditation to charities that meet its standards. Learn more online at richmond.bbb.org.
