Stinkbugs Are Coming
There is a new invasion of stinkbugs along the Mid-Atlantic states that appears to be slowly creeping southward. Charles Fishburne reports.
As the name implies, they’re nasty. The latest strain from the Far East has no natural predators here and appears to be spreading fast. They have so far invaded 29 states and are just now beginning to show up in Virginia.
Lidholme: They definitely are here and we are starting to get some complaints. Right now, most of them are coming from the Northern Virginia area.

Lidholme: And it doesn't take very much of a crack or a seam for them to crawl in.
Which they like to do when the weather gets cold. She says, winterize your house, close up those cracks. If they do get in, best way to deal with them is to vacuum them up, put them in a plastic bag and freeze them. And why are they such a problem?
Lidholme: They get their name, "stink bugs," from, well, let's just say it's descriptive.
No reports in the region yet, but from the information we are getting, it could be just a matter of time.
