Arrest Made in 1994 Death

A Louisa County man has been charged in connection with a traffic fatality that happened in 1994.

35 year-old Brandon Fields has been arrested and charged with hit and run, a class 5 felony.  He’ll be in arraigned in Louisa on Tuesday.

On the night of February 18, 1994, 34 year-old John Banks lost control of his moped on Route 22, just west of Route 33 at Trevilians, and he wrecked.  A short time later, an Isuzu low-riding pickup, also going east, struck Banks and drove off.

There were three men in that pickup. The victim's family appealed to the public for help in the case on July 27th of this year and a tip led Trooper R.L. Shively and Special Agent J.R. Lyons to their suspect.  Louisa Commonwealth's Attorney Thomas Garrett, Jr.  met with them, Fields was contacted and he surrendered without incident.
