Fewer Fatalities and Drunk Driving Arrests Over Labor Day
Virginia State Police report fewer traffic deaths and drunk drivers on the highways over the Labor Day weekend.
It comes as particularly good news following last year’s Labor Day.
Geller: This past Labor Day holiday weekend proved to be a little bit safer for everyone out there on the highway.

Geller: We saw traffic fatalities decrease by almost half, and we also saw a significant decrease in the number of impaired drivers that were stopped.
Traffic fatalities were down from 14 last year to eight. Drunk driving arrests were down from 164 to 132.
State police stopped and ticketed more than 8800 speeders, more than 2400 reckless drivers and cited almost 900 safety belt violations and 318 child safety seat violations over the Labor Day holiday.
