DNA Clears Man in 1980s Rape Case

DNA testing has excluded Thomas Haynesworth in the rape of a Richmond woman 25 years ago.

The tests implicate Leon Davis, Jr., dubbed the “Black Ninja”.  He's already serving six life terms for a slew of sexual assaults, abductions and robberies in the Richmond area in the 1980s.

Haynesworth is still in prison because he was convicted of four sexual assaults.  The genetic testing also points to Davis in another of those attacks, but there is no evidence to test in the two remaining cases.  His lawyers insist Davis was responsible for them, too.

Haynesworth’s victim now says she sees him as a victim, also.
