Charges Filed in 1965 Hopewell Murder

Donald Long was arrested on Friday at his home in Las Vegas.

Police in Hopewell explained that on December 28, 1965, his wife Naomi was found dead at the City Point Inn Apartments where she lived.  The Medical Examiner determined she was probably strangled.

In the past month, investigators have gotten information that led to the arrest of her husband.  A grand jury has indicted Long on charges of first degree murder.  He will be held in Nevada until extradition to Virginia is granted.

Police Chief Steven Martin and Commonwealth’s Attorney Richard Newman will explain details of the case later today.
