Student Art Featured in Petersburg

Tonight’s Friday for the Arts in Petersburg’s Olde Town will include an exhibit of the work of area students.

The artwork was done by more than 40 kids from Petersburg, Dinwiddie, Prince George, Chesterfield and Richmond, who took part in the Petersburg Area Art League’s summer art camps, held this year in the PAAL’s new Education Center.

The students worked closely with established area artists, and their work will be displayed on the second floor art gallery.  It includes dioramas of scenes from ancient Rome, landscape watercolors, quilts, pottery and more.

Also opening tonight in the PAAL main gallery, an exhibit on the history of the League told through artwork, photographs and newspaper clippings. The main focus of this year’s History Show is the variety of styles of artwork that have been unearthed from PAAL’s permanent collection, dating back from the 1940s through the 70s.
