Dominion Workers Collect School Supplies

Last week Dominion Virginia Power workers planned to have a party at their Tredegar campus to gather school supplies. They had to cancel.

A huge storm the night before, that produced close to 200,000 power outages, forced a change of plans.

Since early in June, many of the same people who were busy getting the lights back on, had been collecting school supplies for Richmond Public School students.

Renee Johnson is Dominion’s Community Partnership Manager.  She said this kind of thing is typical of the people she works with.

Johnson:  The last year, our volunteers donated about 125,000 hours to the communities where we live and work.

They didn’t get to stuff a school bus, as they planned, but they were able to fill 170 boxes with the kinds of things that will help kids get off to a great start this school year.
