Wilder Tells Obama To Dump Biden for Clinton

Former Governor Doug Wilder is suggesting President Obama replace Vice President Joe Biden on the 2012 ticket with Hillary Clinton. Craig Carper reports.

Since his Op-Ed piece was published Monday on Politico.com, former Governor Wilder has been making various national cable news appearances explaining his position.

Wilder describes Clinton as a team player since assuming her position as Secretary of State, and says she has unequivocally proved herself capable of running the nation.  Wilder says Biden, in contrast, has done nothing but hurt President Obama with frequent gaffes and has done nothing to show he is prepared to assume the Presidency if necessary.

Wilder:  Certainly you’re not going to have the President tomorrow dump Biden or next week or the week after, but he needs to start thinking that a lot of people are turned off, and I’ve travelled the country and a whole bunch of people are not seeing the change that they can believe in.  I think this would be audacious and it would be a change and it might provide some hope.

Wilder was one of the first to endorse Obama for President and one of his strongest supporters during the 2008 campaign.
