July Hottest Ever For Richmond
Last month was the hottest July on record in Richmond. Charles Fishburne reports.
The National Weather service says our average temperature of 82.8 degrees topped the previous record of 82.4 set in 1993.
Rusnak: For the month of July in Richmond, it was the warmest July on record, and that goes back to the late 1800's, I believe.
Mike Rusnak, National Weather service, says although it was the hottest July on record, it was not the hottest month.
Rusnak: August of 1900 was 82.9, so we've missed the warmest all-time record hot month by .1 degree.
Rusnak says this August came in a bit cooler, but that won’t last long.
Rusnak: Mid-week we'll be pushing 100 again, but it looks like a short-lived type of heat wave, where it comes in for about three days and then we have a cold front coming through by week end to cool back down again.
