Well Known Actor from Goochland Dies

Carl Gordon died yesterday, the Goochland native was 78.

Gordon will likely be best remembered for playing Andrew Emerson on the FOX Show “Roc” in the 90's, but he had a wealth of experience on the Broadway stage where he appeared in The Piano Lesson, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Ain’t Supposed to Die a Natural Death and The Great White Hope.

Gordon was a graduate of Brooklyn College in New York City.  He studied at the Theatre Workshop from 1965 to '69, performing in off-Broadway plays as well as dozens of films and TV shows. His wife Jacqueline said he was a member of the board of Building the Fire Within; that’s a local non-profit that helps women just released from prison.

Carl Gordon suffered from non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  His funeral will be private.
