Dominion Reaching Out to the Elderly
Dominion Virginia Power, state and local officials are reaching out to help elderly people survive the extreme heat.
There’ll be a brief meeting today in Richmond for people from four area senior centers.
Randolph: To hear about available cooling assistance programs and conservation measures that they can do around their home and also to help give them heat stress tips that they can do to stay cool during the high temperatures.
Dominion’s Rita Randolph said the meeting begins at 11 this morning at the Linwood Robinson Senior Center at 700 N. 26th Street. And, she said, Dominion wants to be sure older people know about the Fan Care Program.
Randolph: They can get a fan through their local area agency to help move air around in their homes to help supplement their air conditioner.
Energy Share’s state cooling assistance program can supply eligible seniors with an air conditioner.
