Henrico County Wins 18 National Awards
Henrico County has won 18 Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties.
18 ranks Henrico seventh in total awards nationally.
Lawrence: For the fifth year in a row, we have received more NACO achievement awards than any other Virginia county.
And, Barry Lawrence, an assistant to County Manager Virgil Hazelett said, since 2000 Henrico has brought home 149 Association of Counties awards.
Lawrence: Since 1987, 419.
He singled out one county department in particular that's been recognized 143 times for its cutting-edge programs.
Lawrence: Our Human Resources department is the only HR department in the nation that's actually won at least one award from the National Association of Counties, one achievement award over the past 24 consecutive years.
This year’s HR Fitness and Wellness Certification program resulted in 72 Henrico employees losing a total of 580 pounds in 17 weeks. The National Association of Counties Achievement Awards will be presented in Reno, Nevada, this weekend.
