Bolling Heading to Chase City

Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling was at Newport News/Williamsburg Air Port yesterday for the groundbreaking at Orion Air’s Operations Center. The project, a combination of aircraft hangar and office, will keep 57 jobs local and add 51 new ones. Tomorrow Bolling heads to southside.

He’ll be at the privately-funded Estes Community Center in Chase City.

Bolling:  That's designed to provide workforce training and development and other educational opportunities to people in the Mecklenburg  County area.

The Center, Bolling noted, has a record of success.

Bolling:  They've been able to work with local business and industry to help retrain more than 700 individuals.

The Estes Community Center, he said, is doing something right.

Bolling:  And we want to see whether or not this may be a program that we can help replicate in other parts of our state.

Jobs, the Lt. Governor added, are being created in Virginia.  For example, in the last six months:

Bolling:  We've closed 102 economic development deals; those deals have resulted in almost 7000 new jobs and over one billion dollars in capital investment; as a result of that, Virginia now has the third-highest job creation rate in the nation.
