Cantor sets job fair for next week
With almost 15 million people still looking for work across the nation in June, and 50 thousand in Virginia, Seventh District Republican Congressman Eric Cantor is once again planning a job fair next Tuesday. Charles Fishburne reports.
The last one attracted more than 70 businesses looking to hire, and about three thousand job seekers.
Cantor: We've got to do everything we can to help people of Virginia continue their search to get back to work.
Congressman Cantor says the unemployment rate in Virginia is 7.6 percent, no better than this time last year.
Cantor: That's exactly why I'm sponsoring a jobs fair on Tuesday, July 13th. It's from 10 o'clock in the morning til 2pm in the afternoon at Deep Run High School; we're expecting over 75 local area employers that are already confirmed to participate. They include employers such as Bon Secours, CarMax, Dominion, MeadWestVaCo and others.
