Police May Have Sketch of Prime Suspect in Harrington Murder
There may be a significant breakthrough in the case of a Virginia Tech student, whose remains were found on an Albermarle County Farm, three months after she disappeared from a rock concert at UVA. Charles Fishburne reports.
Police now believe they are closer to the killer.
Geller: We've been able to make, through the course of the investigation, a forensic connection between the disappearance and death of Morgan Harrington and an unsolved abduction and sexual assault that took place in Fairfax city in 2005.
The victim survived and described her attacker to a sketch artist.
Geller: At least this gives us a face to work with.
Corrinne Geller, Virginia State Police.
Geller: Hopefully, someone in the Charlottesville region or the Northern Virginia or anywhere else, for that matter, will see the suspect sketch, recognize an individual that resembles that, notify law enforcement and let us pursue that angle.
There are other details in the Fairfax case that also may be helpful. Police won’t say what the forensic evidence was.
Geller: But we can say that we do have a conclusive link that's been made due to forensic evidence obtained through the course of our investigation.
