State Police Gear Up for Holiday Enforcement
Virginia State police are gearing up for the July 4th Holiday weekend, with stepped up enforcement. Charles Fishburne reports.
Beginning tonight, midnight, State Police will crack down on motorists who don’t obey the law.
Geller: Virginia State Police will have 75 percent of its uniformed work force patrolling the highways of Virginia and will continue to do so over the holiday weekend until midnight Monday, July 5th.
Corrinne Geller, Virginia State Police, says last year they stopped thousands of motorists who were driving recklessly, speeding and drinking.
Geller: State police arrested 129 impaired drivers, also stopped more than 7300 speeders and about 2100 reckless drivers, cited 949 people for failing to buckle themselves up or properly buckle up their children.
Last year, nine people died on Virginia highways during the long holiday weekend.
