High School Graduates Honored

There will be a graduation ceremony at The Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center later this morning.

The annual event recognizes students who have been treated in the Hematology and Oncology Clinic.  This year, that’s 20 high school seniors:  14 oncology patients and 6 sickle cell patients, who continued their education while they were being treated.  Scholarships were provided by ASK -- The Association for Children with Cancer -- and the Sickle Cell Association of Richmond.  Memorial scholarships will also be presented.

The ceremony takes place from 11:30 this morning until 3 in the afternoon at the Kontos Medical Sciences Building on Marshall Street.
