The money is for one of 34 projects splitting $29 million in federal stimulus funds in 27 states. The idea is to train more workers to make homes and businesses more energy efficient. The Green Jobs Alliance in Hampton will use its money to provide local comprehensive training for careers in weatherization education and energy efficiency. Community Housing Partners in Christiansburg will focus on comprehensive technology enabled information for ten weatherization classes. The training will be available for long distance learning to help standardize it across Virginia.
