Ambulance Authority Offers CPR Training

This year marks the 50th anniversary of CPR. The Richmond Ambulance Authority will mark that milestone on Monday.

CPR

Daniel: Cardio pulmonary resuscitation

Shannon Daniel is a Clinical Education Specialist with the RAA

Daniel: It’s basically a combination of rescue breathing, which is the mouth to mouth resuscitation, and chest compressions.

On Monday, anyone who wants to, can learn CPR

Daniel: We’re going to be doing CPR for the community, and we’re teaching them how to preform CPR. The classes will be held at Richmond Technical Center, which is 2020 Westwood Avenue. They will be holding classes every 60 minutes from nine to five, there is no charge to the public for this.

Daniel pointed out that the American Heart Association found about 80% of all out of hospital cardiac arrests happen in the victims home and effective, immediate CPR can double the chance of survival.
