Maggie Walker Academic Team Wins Title

The Maggie Walker Governor’s School Academic team won a National Championship over the weekend.

The team competed in Chicago in the National Academic Quiz Tournaments. The event brings together 200 of the best academic teams in the country. Greg Tito is Team Captain, he and Sarah Angelo will graduate this year. They’re both from Henrico. Juniors Tommy Casalaspi and John Roach, both from Chesterfield, were the other team members. Maggie Walker Director Fred S. Morton said “Winning such a prestigious national tournament is a real testament not just to the academic abilities of these students, but also to their dedication.” Other Virginia teams competing included The Jefferson High School for Science and Technology from Fairfax and, from Falls Church, George Mason High School.
