MeadWestvaco Relocating to Richmond
MeadWestvaco is bringing 128 jobs to Virginia by relocating its Center for Packaging Innovation Center from Raleigh, North Carolina. Charles Fishburne reports.
The company will invest $10 million to relocate the center, some of the jobs at the new company headquarters, some in leased space downtown, and they are premium jobs.

What they engineer and design and market is state-of-the-art packaging material, everything from frozen foods at supermarkets, drink packs in India and a new blister pack in Walmart’s that helps you keep track of your pills.

Puschendorf: It promotes adherence to medication so it’s in a blister pack format. It’s a huge part of Walmart’s $4 generic and branded drug program.
Just how many people will be hired here depends upon how many in Raleigh accept offers to come. Both the Mayor and the Governor welcomed the move and the workers and the global business MeadWestvaco brings to the Capitol City.
