Teen Drowns In Lake Gaston

The 15 year old male, whose name has not been released, was fishing from a dock near Poplar Creek Marina in the Ebony area.  According to Brunswick County Sheriff Brian Roberts, the teen was not a good swimmer and accidentally fell into Lake Gaston and drowned around three o clock Sunday afternoon.  The teen was visiting with a foster family in the Lake Gaston area.  His body was recovered.  Rescue and recovery crews working the accident included Lake Gaston Dive Team, Ebony Fire Department, Virginia State Police, Roanoke Wildwood Fire Department, the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, and the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office.  Sheriff Roberts says foul play is not suspected in the incident, which took place near the county line of Mecklenburg and Brunswick counties.
