Goochland Names New Fire Chief

Goochland County has chosen a new Fire Chief. William MacKay will take over June 28th.

MacKay, who is presently the Fire Chief in Niagara Falls, New York, worked from 1980 through 2005 with the Fairfax County Fire Department.  He retired from that job as Battalion Chief, Special Operations.  Ken Brown served as Goochland’s Fire Chief for the past seven years.  He retired in January.  More than 40 applications were submitted for the job, according to county officials say, and MacKay was chosen for his demonstrated strong leadership, comprehensive knowledge, and his years of emergency management experience.
