General Gives Gulf War Papers to Ft. Lee
Retired U.S. Army Lt. General Gus Pagonis has donated his extensive collection of videos, after action reports, and other material from the Gulf War to the Army Logistics University at Ft. Lee.
At a ceremony on Monday, Gen. Pagonis will officially hand over the documents, which will be the start of the Senior Sustainment Collection at the Army’s professional development school. Historian Dr. Steve Anders, of the Combined Arms Support Command, said the collection will benefit students, but it will also set the standard for other sustainment commanders to donate their logistics-related documents and files. Gen. Pagonis said he hopes that Ft. Lee will become a repository for the sustainment war fighting functions of transportation, ordnance, and quartermaster. When the Persian Gulf War began in 1990 he was director of logistics and knew the importance of what was about to happen, so he organized a history team to document every aspect of planning and preparation.
