Money for Petersburg Transit Improvements

Petersburg City Council has given its approval to $1.4 million in funding for Petersburg Area Transit.

One hundred percent of the money will come from a federal stimulus grant intended for capital improvements for mass transit.  Included is funding for furniture in the newly-opened multi-modal transit center, as well as computers, radios, and other equipment there.  The money will also pay for two buses to transport the disabled, new route signs, handicapped ramps for bus stops, and equipment for maintenance.
